Mississauga, ON (March 19, 2021) – Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP) is very excited to announce the acquisition of 236 First Street, Orangeville, ON L9W 3K1. The 30-unit building is just a five-minute walk to Orangeville Mall and a five-minute drive to Headwaters Hospital.
Immediate plans to undergo renovations to support and services will include a variety of rooms and facilities to be available for use by clients & tenants. Furthermore, the property will have space available for clinical rooms and staff offices.
This expansion will primarily aid in SHIP’s reach and efforts to accommodate our growing number of clients by increasing SHIP’s total housing options offered. To house SHIP’s clients, the new property has 30 bedrooms, each approximately 300 sq. ft. with a 3 or 4 piece bathroom and a kitchenette. Each room has its own thermostat, heat and air conditioning. Additionally, the location offers a sizeable parking lot with 31 parking spots available.
“We are very excited about this expansion. With the acquisition of the new Orangeville location, we are able to offer more housing options to the people that need it most. And that’s our mission, ‘to increase the quality of life through health services and housing supports that promote mental health, physical health, and wellness.’ SHIP is growing and we’re thrilled that we’ve been able to respond to the needs of our clients”, says SHIP CEO Laurie Ridler.
SHIP Chair of the Board Louise Kindree says, “I am delighted that we are making strides in growth and support services. This purchase is in line with SHIP’s strategic plan. By increasing our housing capacity, we are able to enhance and renew our ability to provide sustainable, safe and quality services and housing to our clients.”
The new location in Orangeville is estimated to be operational late spring.
