We are very proud to announce that SHIP has won the award for Best Nonprofit Employer – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (20+ staff) from CharityVillage. 

 

This award is a testament to our collective dedication to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion within our organization.  This recognition symbolizes our ongoing journey toward a more equitable, diverse and inclusive future.

 

 

Some of the highlight accomplishments of our EDI efforts include:

• Hiring a dedicated Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager and a committed staff-driven EDI committee
• The development and implementation of our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism (IDEA) Framework
• Use of client and staff data to identify equity gaps for recruitment purposes and how to best deliver our services
• Formalization of strategic partnerships with organizations serving under-represented communities who have a voice to share (i.e. trans, disabled, newcomer, Indigenous, other racialized groups)
• Brave Spaces, Safe Spaces, and Employee Resource Groups created to provide opportunities for staff to engage in facilitated discussion in a safe environment
