SHIP is looking for Governance Leaders to join a progressive growing organization and who want to make a difference in their community.

As a member of the SHIP Board of Directors you will get the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with a diverse Board of Directors and Management Team
  • Help shape the organization’s future and strategic plan
  • Lead the organization through upcoming system change

About the Opportunity

Location: Must live or work in Mississauga, Brampton, County of Dufferin, or the Region of Waterloo
Role: Volunteer Directors for the Board of Directors of Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP)

The Board is responsible for effective governance and leadership for the organization. The time commitment required for a Director of the Board is approximately 6-10 hours per month. Meetings are held monthly in the evening, at the main office in Mississauga, or virtually.

To complement the existing expertise, diversity, and range of experience on the Board, we are seeking new members with a variety of skill sets, including individuals who have diverse voices and viewpoints and are strong leaders in areas of expertise which can add value to SHIP’s board.

In addition, we are looking for candidates who:

  • Have an in-depth understanding and experience managing the strategic direction, and risk management needs of an organization
  • Have high ethical standards and an abundance of integrity
  • Demonstrate leadership, drive, strategic thinking, and a governance focused approach to Board responsibilities
  • Are strong collaborators and are prepared to work in a team setting
  • Are ready and willing to commit time and energy to support SHIP
  • Are committed to SHIP’s mission and have a strong desire to make an impact and to effect change
