Temporary housing support in response to the intensive support needs of individuals with mental illness in a crisis situation which has placed them, or could potentially place them, in conflict with the criminal justice system.

2. Transitional Housing
Temporary housing to assist in filling the gap between homeless and permanent housing placement. Clients receive support, education, life-skill training, supervision and structure in the program for up to 3 years.

Supportive housing generally refers to a combination of housing assistance and supports that enable people to live independently in their community.

30% of gross income for low and moderate income households; or 2) a unit for which the rent is at or below the average market rent of a unit in the regional market area.

Our Housing Services
We offer rental assistance, tenancy support, conflict resolution and more for youth, families, and seniors.
We currently own and operate 12 capital buildings located across Brampton, Mississauga, Dufferin County, and Toronto. Each building offers independent living opportunities to individuals experiencing mental health challenges in the community.
Our teams at SHIP work with 20+ community partners and more than 170 landlords to create independent living opportunities for vulnerable individuals. Currently, more than 1100 individuals live independently in their communities with a variety of housing assistance and types. Available supports include counselling, personal support, case management, income support, life skills training, and more.
The acquisition of high quality buildings and housing units is very important to the work we do. It means that we can expand our reach and help more people find a safe place to call home while making necessary services available to keep clients healthy and feeling their best. Our units are built with clients in mind and include practical design elements and layouts that meet client needs, and are located in central areas with easy access to public transportation. We strive to make sure all clients feel included in the community and have put measures in place to create engagement opportunities both internally and with our community partners. The professional teams at SHIP connect with clients regularly to ensure units are well maintained and also make time to address any issues as they arise.
