SHIP purchased 273 Main Street North in Brampton to develop a 50-unit affordable supportive housing building. This development will house 50 residents who are currently homeless and provide them with high-quality housing where they can have a safe place to call home. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2026.
Community Bonds are social finance tools for charities, non-profits, and co-operatives to fund impactful projects. They work like traditional bonds, offering interest-bearing loans with set returns and fixed terms. These Bonds let people invest in local projects that provide social or environmental benefits.
SHIP Bonds also function similarly, with annual interest payments and principal repayment at maturity.

Investing in community bonds, like any other type of investment includes risk. However, SHIP is a financially healthy organization and is in good standing with all current financing and funding partners. Investors should be aware that due diligence, assessing the issuer’s financial health, understanding bond terms, and considering economic conditions are essential prior to investing in the community bond.
Principal dollar amounts will be held for the term of the bond ranging from three to six years. After the term expires, SHIP will pay back the principal capital to the lender and provide an opportunity to re-invest the principal for a new term.
The community bond is designed to provide a lower entry point for investors ranging from $1,000 to $25,000. There is currently no limit on the investment amount up until the $4M total campaign goal.
Our community bond is open to investment from all types of investors including non-accredited / accredited individuals, corporations and institutions. There is a residency requirement for individual investors as these individuals need to be Canadian citizens or have permanent residency status. All investors have to bank with a Canadian financial institution.
SHIP is managing the investment process internally with guidance by Tapestry Capital.
