The SHIP Edith Mac Shelter is supported by the Region of Waterloo and SHIP. It is funded by the Region of Waterloo with SHIP providing the on-site services.

The program provides emergency housing and housing support services to men 25 and over in the Region of Waterloo who are experiencing homelessness. The program currently operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Upon being referred to the program, applicants will have a brief interview with a shelter worker to assess support needs before being referred to an intensive housing worker.

Supports provided by the program
include but are not limited to:

  • Emergency Shelter Support
  • Emergency Food and Clothing
  • Support with seeking and securing safe and affordable housing
  • Support and linkages that will assist with financial needs (i.e. first and last month’s rent)
  • Support with seeking and securing employment
  • Support with effectively connecting with other community agencies based on client goals

To receive services, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Adult male, 25+
  • Must be experiencing homelessness
  • Fit the residency eligibility as outlined by the Region of Waterloo
  • Must be willing to work collaboratively with the Edith Mac Shelter Team
