The Short Stay Crisis Support Program offers voluntary support services to people with serious mental illness, who are experiencing a crisis, and have come into conflict with the criminal justice system.

The program has two locations, (South Mississauga and South Brampton) and 8 beds at each location. 1 bed at each location is available for individuals who meet the program criteria but who are not involved with the criminal justice system.

The Short Stay Crisis Support Program is designed to promote crisis de-escalation. Clients are provided with lodging and support for up to 14 days, including:

  • Short term care plan, discharge plan, coordination and linkage to other community support services
  • Specialized short-term case management
  • Risk assessment, management and 24/7 client centred support
  • Clinical interventions
  • Other services that promote clients’ wellness and reintegration into the community

To receive services, the individual must meet the following criteria:

  • 16+ years old with diagnosed or apparent mental health symptoms
  • Experiencing a crisis that escalates their symptoms of mental illness
  • Engaged in legal involvement (in the past 2 years) or have the potential for criminal involvement
  • Residing or receiving services in Peel Region
  • NOT an immediate risk to self or others
